The temperature changed noticeably this week. A few maples near the square have already started turning yellow while the rest of the park remains deep green.
After a short afternoon storm the traffic disappeared for a while. Reflections in the pavement made an otherwise ordinary block look completely different.
Walking the same avenue on opposite sides of the street makes the effect of mature trees obvious. The shaded side felt several degrees cooler.
A new tree, a repaired facade or a different shopfront can seem insignificant at first. Looking back after a year makes those small changes surprisingly visible.
